Are you kidding me? As news began to circulate the week before January 21, 2025 Blizzard (Snowmeggedon lol), it was initially an arctic front bringing freeze warnings and possibly sleet.  As the day drew nearer, we were informed that front was dropping further south and now would put Acadiana in the "snow cone" of initially 1-3" of snow.  Two days out that forecast became clearer there would be significant snow and they started using the word BLIZZARD!  And it happened and everything SHUT DOWN, even the major highway.  Ended up Rayne and our area received around 11" of snow and once the Blizzard stopped, the fun began!  The following day brought sunshine but even more cold and it actually dropped to 2 degrees farenheit around us.  But we are grateful to report that the church sustained NO broken pipes!  The snow drift on top of the metal walkway awning got bent slightly from the weight, but other than that the church property endured.

What this historic weather event did bring was great enjoyment for all ages.  Whether it was actually making snowballs, snow angels, or just admiring the winter landscape, I'm pretty sure most of our church family got out and experienced it!  Glad to say the normal Gulf Coast winter temperatures returned and by the following Sunday, it was back to 70 degrees and all snow melted.  We have posted these pictures to document that winter came and the Cajuns of Ebenezer survived.
